Linux on Dialogue Flybook

On this site you can find a guide on how to get the Flybook running with Linux.

I will mainly focus on the different pieces of nice hardware in this notebook and how to get them to work. Thus I will cover more general topics not in detail (like e.g. partitioning a harddisk and setting up the system - in my case Debian Sarge - itself). For such documentation please consult the sites that are listed in the links-section.

As you might notice this is (and always will be) work in progress.

All comments, suggestions etc. are welcome. Please contact me at wf-hp@gmx.net.

If anybody (in particular you guys from Dialogue visiting my site lately) has some information regarding the hardware used in the V33i and V35i please send me a mail.

General Remark

One remark regarding the temperature of the flybook (because everybody whom I tell about my flybook asks me).
With the Transmeta Crusoe CPU the Flybook doesn't get hot at all. The fan normally isn't switched on (and thus the flybook is really quiet, too). Only after several minutes of compiling stuff (with 100% CPU-load of course) it starts running and stops soon after the CPU-load is down to normal.
I wonder if the situation is worse with the Intel Celeron / Pentium Mobility CPU. Please send me an e-mail with your experiences if you have a V33i/V35i.

Overview

Wherever I got reports on the V23i, V33i and V35i (and there are any differences to the A33i), such information is added to the various sections of the site.

I cannot guarantee that everything will work as I describe it working on my Flybook. If you damage your Flybook while installing Linux (which should not happen but is certainly possible in some way or other) I cannot be held liable.
